Finding Winter Fun Without the Cold: Snow & Ice Around Austin

Friday, December 8, 2017

Though we may not get much (or any!) winter weather here in Austin, that doesn’t mean we can’t have our own festive fun. After all, it’s fun to visit the winter weather in theory, but our beautiful temperatures make it doable for us to be outside nearly yearround! If you’re in search of some winter fun, here are some of our ideas:

Have a snow party! In a location where we don’t get snow naturally, everyone loves snow. Mireles Ice now offers snow blowing to the public and serves the Austin area. What an epic birthday party idea, too!

Ice Skating at Chapparal. Ice rinks are freezing, and you’ll feel like you were transported to the East Coast. Spend a morning or afternoon ice skating with your kids for some festive winter fun.

Ice Skating on the Plaza. Beginning on November 27, you can ice skate at Austin’s flagship Whole Foods store! It is one of the most anticipated events of the holiday season.

Omni Barton Creek Lights & Ice. Beginning in mid-December until the 1st of January, Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa creates an ice skating rink that overlooks the Texas Hill Country, complete with fun activities and twinkling lights.

Hutto’s Downtown Christmas Fair. We love this amazing event, featuring gorgeous vendors, festive treats, crafts, games, and train rides. There’s even live music to make you feel like you’re truly in the holiday spirit.

Bastrop Snow Day. Do you dream of seeing snow here in Austin? It’s coming to Bastrop! See snow at Fisherman’s Park. Sip hot chocolate and even watch a holiday film.

Do you have another favorite winter activity here in Austin? We want to know about it!
