Supporting Our Local Community

Friday, April 7, 2017

I have several large magnets with sayings on them displayed in my office to always remind me of what I am striving for. One of my favorites is a quote from Gandhi that says, ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world.'

I have tried to do this throughout my adulthood by volunteering at programs like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, being a CASA for foster children, and most recently working, with Foundation Communities. Making the time to give back to my community with a focus on children and families has always been one of my main priorities.

As a business owner, I wanted to build on this philosophy and integrate it into our corporate culture. I am extremely excited to announce that moving forward, Nurture My Child will be putting a strong focus on community and local non-profits.

We will be doing a monthly feature highlighting various local non-profits and charities that work with children and families. In addition, at least once a quarter we will choose a charity to partner with that aligns with what Nurture My Child can offer to families and children in the Austin area.  But we need your help!

We want to know what pulls at your heart-strings.  What is a small, local non-profit that could use our help? Please comment below to let us know your thoughts.

What matters to you, matters to us. We can’t wait to work with our local community -- we are all in this together!

Absolutely love that you are putting this emphasis on giving back! We would be honored if you would consider partnering with Carrying Hope (, an Austin-based 501c3 nonprofit that makes Hope Packs filled with comfort items and essentials for children entering foster care. We would be glad to answer any questions you might have. Thank you for your consideration and for helping those who need it in our community!
This is wonderful! I'm an Activity Lead with Little Helping Hands. LHH partners with local organizations to provide young children and their families with various volunteering opportunities throughout the Austin area. I also volunteer occasionally with Creative Action which empowers childrens' creative side through art programs and camps. Love both of these non-profits!
